Efficiency and Transparency in Cable Manufacturing -

At this year’s leading trade fair WIRE in Düsseldorf from 26th to 30th March, the trade fair appearance of the ADVARIS Informationssysteme GmbH, with headquarters in Bruchsal, will focus on the company’s capacity as a full-service supplier of all functions required by cable and wire manufacturers for successful economic management.

Bruchsal/Düsseldorf, 23.01.2012. – At Stand B 22 in Hall 10, visitors can obtain information on potential benefits of using highly developed ERP industry solutions in advisory discussions and live presentations. Primarily small and medium-sized companies, but also large enterprises with several international production locations, can profit from a fully integrated length-based system design and secure sustainable competitive advantages from ADVARIS’ complete package in its modular concept.

Integrated maintenance management and optimised production scheduling

Besides many new software functions for cable design, manufacturing, quality control and warehouse management, ADVARIS will, for the first time, be presenting a solution for integrated maintenance management at the WIRE. The aim of the new module is to maximise technical plant availability in cable manufacturing, which will lead to significant competitive advantages.

The proactive maintenance of machinery will be automatically included in production planning, with maintenance intervals determined by time or condition. Failures in production plants can be automatically identified, classified and, when required, the maintenance personnel notified by a system warning (alarm) or by text messaging. All information required for the repair, such as the availability of spare parts, technical manuals and the complete maintenance history of the plant will be available directly at the machine terminal at the press of a key. The result will be the minimising of machine downtimes and repair times (MTBF/MTTR).

The impact of a machine fault on the ability to meet deadlines for production orders is indicated immediately in the finite planning. By using new in-memory technologies, the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) from ADVARIS can update the production plan in just a few seconds.

The new technology also enables event-driven real-time optimisation of planning for individual lengths and drums in the production department. If short lengths should occur, the MES immediately notifies further possible uses or the need to remanufacture. This creates a previously unknown transparency and ability of production management to react.
